The Immersion Program at TKS is a separate entity from the junior high school English program. We have no access to the tests they may give or its contents. Additionally, it would not be fair for us to have access to this information and other students from other schools do not have it. In my experience at this school, students who consistently complete their homework, score well on tests, and regularly participate in classroom discussions are often able to succeed in the junior high school English program. Our program already gives students the preparation they need, as long as they make an effort and do their part, too. In my classroom, I would prefer not to lose site of what this program was meant to do. I want to continue teaching students the way I would at home, rather than to fall into a cram school-style of teaching.
As an Immersion Program, teachers are expected to teach the students the same way they would teach students in their respective countries. It gives them the skills to be able to communicate and accumulate English and reasoning skills necessary to pass tests such as EIKEN and TOEIC without much trouble. It is hard to have regular communication with parents, so over the years it seems as though parents may not always be aware of what our program can do for their children.
I have put my "Extra Homework" link back onto my site. If you need my password, please contact me. If you would like recommendations for particular test preparation resources, feel free to ask. If your child needs extra help, there are extra help classes available to help them with their English skills.
